Additional charges filed against Jefferson man who eluded in possession of a handgun

Additional charges have been filed against Charles R. Bradshaw II, 57, of Jefferson following further investigation into the Dec. 29 incident. Bradshaw refused a traffic stop initiated by a Stuart police officer and a pursuit ensued involving several law enforcement agencies. 

The chase ended in rural Adair County where Adair County deputy Josh Armstrong heard a gunshot and observed Bradshaw in possession of a handgun. Armstrong fired his service weapon and struck the suspect in both arms causing non-life threatening injuries.

Bradshaw was transported to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines where he was treated for his injuries, and was released a short time later. Bradshaw was then transported to the Adair County jail and charged with felon in possession of a firearm, felony eluding, and several traffic violations.

Additional charges filed include attempted murder of a peace officer (707.11 (5) (A)) Class B-Felony; assault on a police officer (708.3A (2)) Class D-Felony, and intimidation with a dangerous weapon (708.6, Class C-Felony).
